New Hospitality Grant: Up to €11,000 per Establishment for Equipment Renewal

The Government has approved a €15 million grant scheme to help bars, restaurants, hotels, cafés, campsites and other hospitality businesses replace their equipment with more energy-efficient alternatives. These grants are set out in Royal Decree 638/2026.

Why have these grants been introduced?

The Government considers that rising energy costs are having a particularly significant impact on the hospitality sector, which is largely made up of small businesses and self-employed individuals. It also aims to reduce energy consumption and improve the competitiveness of establishments.

What is eligible for funding?

The replacement of:

  • Hospitality appliances and equipment with more energy-efficient alternatives.
  • Air-conditioning and heating equipment.
  • More energy-efficient awnings and parasols.

Equipment that uses fossil fuels, including natural gas, will not be eligible for funding.

Who can apply for a grant?

  • Natural persons or legal entities.
  • Joint ownership arrangements and civil-law partnerships without legal personality.
  • Applicants registered with the Census of Entrepreneurs, Professionals and Withholding Agents of the Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT).
  • Applicants carrying out activities included under CNAE codes 55 and 56, covering accommodation and food service activities.

How much funding can be received?

  • Minimum: €5,000 per establishment.
  • Maximum: €11,000 per establishment
  • The grant may cover up to 100% of the eligible investment, subject to the established limits.

When can applications be submitted?

From 10 am on 5 August 2026 until 3 pm on 30 September 2026, or until the available budget has been exhausted.

How will the grants be awarded?

The grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, according to the order in which complete applications are received, rather than through a competitive process. Therefore, applicants who meet the requirements and submit their documentation earlier will have a better chance of receiving the grant.

If you run a hospitality business and are considering upgrading cold rooms, refrigeration equipment, kitchen machinery or air-conditioning and heating systems with more energy-efficient models, this grant could cover a significant proportion of the investment, with grants of up to €11,000 per establishment.
